“Let them brush your rock n’ roll hair…”
The Cars’ debut album is one of the best in rock. It’s on my list of albums I can listen to all the way through without skipping any tracks.
The album opens with Let the Good Times Roll. It instantly tells you what The Cars are all about and sets the mood for the rest of the album.
It opens with Rick Ocasek’s bare yet hook-ey rhythm guitar and Greg Hawke’s pulsing synth beat. When the drums come in, you instantly sink into an instant classic rock adventure.
Throughout, the synth playing against the bass and lead guitars has you bouncing from ear-to-ear. It’s magical.
Then be careful, because if you let it go to the next track, My Best Friend’s Girl, you’ll be hooked forever.
