Blog Roll

Sounds tasty, doesn’t it? Like a cinnamon roll. Mmmmm. This is a different kind of roll.

Back in the day, before social media took over our eyeballs — and our privacy — there were multitudes of personal, indie websites that would link to each other. It was known as a blog roll or “ring.” It was cool because if you found a website you liked, you could look at their b-roll and very likely find even more sites you liked. If you had your own website, you would maintain your own list of blogs or sites you regularly visit. It was a more community-oriented way of sharing stuff you dug online. Not to mention that you weren’t inundated by a “feed” where every Tik Tok influencer wormed their way into your brain without you even being on Tik Tok. I digress.

Anyway, I missed the blog roll/ring, and I was inspired by Nicolas to bring it back. If you have or know of a super cool or interesting indie blog (no corporate or selly-selly stuff, please), let me know and I’ll take a look. Maybe I’ll list it here.

Nicolas Guruphat: Very new, but thoughtful and interesting. Look at Passive Relationship with Stuff.

taylor.town: I’m really into minimalist websites and interesting thoughts. Taylor has both.

Melanie Richards: Super fun blog to read. Lots of rabbit hole opportunities on her site.
